| Berkshire smile design treatments |
"Smile design" is a colloquial term, very frequently used nowadays because it is clearly understood by patients. In some quarters it is seen as purely describing a "veneering" treatment, carried out regardless of the precise clinical circumstances.
Guided by you, the referring dentist, our assessment of your patient¹s needs will always be the critical issue. We spend a considerable amount of time discussing their individual requirements and combine these with an over-riding desire to be as conservative of tooth tissue as possible and to maintain dental health at all costs.
Many of the patients referred to us will require several different treatments or retreatments, because dentists carry out this type of work themselves but respect our expertise and experience for these more complicated cases.
Treatment may involve virtually any form of modern dentistry tooth reshaping, porcelain veneers, composite additions, fixed and removable orthodontic treatment, enamel microabrasion, tooth whitening, gingival recontouring, porcelain crowns, gingival grafting, crown lengthening, dental implant placements, bridgework and, of course, replacements of existing restorations or removable dentures that have seen better days.
We are usually able to show any patient photographs of another patient we have recently treated for a very similar presenting condition. From there we frequently use diagnostic wax-ups as a first step, which can often be used to make "mockups" in the mouth, prior to any surgery or tooth reduction.
If crowns, bridges or veneers are to be used we often prefer to provide acrylic provisional restorations at the outset to thoroughly assess aesthetic and phonetic requirements prior to the delivery of the "final" restorations.
At the completion of treatment we will return the patient to your care, having reviewed them some weeks after treatment completion. We will usually review the patient again, free of charge, one year later
