Many patients are apprehensive even at the thought of very complex dental treatment. Therefore we regularly work with a team of Medical Anaesthetists who provide intravenous sedation when treatment will exceed an hour’s duration, or for exceptionally nervous patients. A sedative drug is introduced via an injection in the arm. Though you are conscious throughout the treatment you remain relaxed and have little memory of the dental procedure afterwards. You must be accompanied by another responsible adult who will drive you home and will look after you for the following few hours.
Next to our operating rooms we have a small room in which patients meet the anaesthetist before the procedure and take any appropriate medication. On occasions a patient might also relax in this room after the procedure, before they travel home. At all times such patients will be under the direct supervision of our trained staff.
