Does having a dental implant placed hurt?
No. All dental implants are placed at Pentangle Dental Transformations using powerful local anaesthetics. These make the appropriate part of your jaw numb for about two hours. The procedure is completed within this time. Longer procedures are carried out with the aid of more anaesthetic or with the aid of intravenous sedation which relaxes you and leaves you with little or no memory of the procedure. After the procedure you should expect some swelling and tenderness over the dental implant site but this will subside over the next few days. You generally return for several small stitches to be removed a week later (which does not require local anaesthetic).
